Such as eBay no. 190756697843 ? Sounds like googling for Yamaha SY77 display upgrade gives a lot of good options. I've seen many cheaper LCD options compared to the Optrex DMF5005 or Futurlec, but they all use other controllers and a slightly different pinout as well. So far the DMF5005 and Futurlec(unknown model) displays use the same pinout as the original module. The replacement LCD modules might need replacement contrast resistors as I can see, and the LED-backlit LCDs are thicker than the original unit it would seem. That isn't a problem for the K5, but what about the K5m? One other problem for some might be the 20-pin ribbon cable. The original connector is crimped to the cable and soldered on the module, so it's going to be a pain to remove if all you have is a soldering iron + desoldering pump. A 20-pin ribbon cable + a cheap 20-pin male header are quite easy to find online though. -- Antoine DeschĂȘnes 2012/11/24 jammie <jammie.emma@blueyonder.co.uk> > > > > no > > its a proper led backlight 5005 lcd replacement module > > same chipset > > you have to remove the efoil invertor add a current limiting resistor from the 5v source of the efoil invertor to the + voltage of the efoil connector on the psu board > > then you can use the original cables that the efoil used on the old display > > you have to desolder these from the old display and fit them to the a k connection on the new display > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: maggooster@... > To: k5synth@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Saturday, November 24, 2012 5:27 PM > Subject: [k5synth] Re: LED Backlight > > > > I'm interested in the LED back light option as well. Is it, possibly, just a matter of hooking up bright LEDs and placing them around the display? > > Using duct tape, of course, to hold them in place ;) > > Sent from my iPod > > > >
