ok yeah i was being a little facetious there. but avast, that be a bold
request there, matey. arrrrr!

i've got a Mac G4 running Mac OS 9 and i use the freeware K5 Controller
app, which works well. can't find anything similar for the PC. the old
Atari ST editors are the best (especially the Dr. T ones) and those
apps are all freeware these days, so it might be worthwhile to find a
freeware Atari ST emulator and pick those up. there's one of them that
actually does spectral analysis and will configure the harmonics for
you to emulate the analyzed wave. i saw this done way back when during
a demo at Synthony (local music store here in Phoenix) and it was darn
nifty.

i'm sure everyone here already knows about this site, but look here:
http://www.kfuenf.org/

there are links to all the stuff i'm talking about there, except the ST
emulators, but those can be found in Google rather easily.

from what i've seen SoundQuest (http://www.squest.com/) is now the best
universal editor/librarian for the PC - if you have more than 3 or 4
instruments in its list, it might be worth it to actually (gasp!) BUY
SoundQuest for your editing needs. i myself have Unisyn 2.0.2 (MOTU)
for the Mac for 3 of my really old synths - the organization of patches
alone is worth the investment, which for that was only $99.
