K5m Audio Demo and a fun story

K5m Audio Demo and a fun story

Hey, everyone!

I recently wrote a blog entry about my experiences with my K5m on the Relaxed Machinery Community site.

You might get a kick out of it!

The Ambient Synth - #4: Reconciling with your Synthesizer

Basically after being frustrated for a year with the synth, I recently had some programming sessions that gave me some great results! I really like the synth a lot now, and I'm looking forward to using it more and more!

And you can download my K5m demo on an mp3 here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/dwbqy5izrjj7g43/Kawai%20K5%20Demo.mp3?dl=0

I'm running the K5m through an external EQ and reverb unit.

You'll hear some basic synth sounds with the K5m, like string machine sounds and sawtooth brass. I wanted to hear what it can do with those basic tones. Also, I experiment with some waveform modulation in other sounds as well.

Great stuff, and all too true. I was so disappointed with the presets of my K5M that I've never installed it in my studio; but I know that with a little effort, it should be capable of some great sounds. Feel free to post a file of your programs, they sound good! I'll have to make some space in my rack and give the K5m another go...

Thanks! I think I will program some more patches and upload the bank to the group files. I think it's intimidating sometimes when you have to program your waveforms from scratch every time. Kawai would have had a little better design if they would have included a library of waveforms you could choose as a start, but keep experimenting! After a while the programming gets easier. Good Luck!

There is a utility program that can send single cycle waves to the k5 which makes it quick the only down side is it loads the waveform for both layers but detuning them you can get fat sounds

I did several sf2 instruments from it

It has a nice dirty filter so with some programming you can get some great sounds

Only surpassed by the k5000 which allows upto 6 layers and pcm transients
