No, its pure K5, no filters, no op amp tweaks - Its the Alien1 (good choice for a movie about UFO's) patch and a variation I made, in multi mode - voices on each synth channel (all on the same midi channel) playing the same patch but detuned slightly, one synth panned left & the other right (and the master tune on one detuned slightly too).

Might be some Arboretum Hyperverb on the whole mix, and some delay on the drums but that's it. Probably ran the mix through Samplitude's multiband compressor when I was done with it.

One of the coolest things about the K5 is Multi mode - you can take a sound and set all 15 multi channels to play that sound, detune each voice slightly from the others, set them all to the same midi channel and you now have one phat-assed mono synth. A good compromise, which I used in this instance is a 4 voice polyphonic sound (so you can play 7th chords) - it still sounds really rich and orchestral.

IMHO: The k5 is the only synth that does a great job with stacking voices and having them sound "orchestral". I have other synths, including the K5000s which don't achieve the same kind of richness when you set multiple voices to the same channel and detune them.

Noise is all about Signal/Noise ratio... with all those voices doubling each other, the output is much hotter, plus the sound has a kind of high frequency hissyness to it that is rather noise like, effectively masks the noise, which, I never thought was all that bad to begin with... The filters are pure K5 filters, I spent some time tweaking them to get that kind of sweep with the mod wheel.

The Filters on the K5 are underutilized, because it is hard to figure out what does what - even after using them for years, I still don't really know wtf I'm doing with all the parameters, but you can get some nice sounding filter sweeps out of them if you take some time to experiment with them

Amazing, I should try this method one day.
