Kawai Synthesizers

Is the Kawai K1 II not the best for aftertouch (or pressure, whatever Kawai calls it)?

My K1 II is almost impossible to get the aftertouch to go, i hve to press so hard it's not 
even useable really. Is this common with the K1II not having great aftertouch or something 
else. 

I am on v1.0, would upgrading to 1.3 help this at all or replacing the aftertouch strip?
