Q80..

Q80..

2005-03-24 by susan dagart

sorted the drive problem..sems I was under powering it..the PS is
10v but my universal PS only runs at 9 or 12V.
the q-80 was working fine at 9v but the DD did not work, no running
at 12V, all is working fine..I'll try not to use it until I get
aproper PS of it,but its a fantastic sequencer!!
I have had the RM1X (rubbish) and the MMT8 (hard work)..
this Q80 has it all!! running on 2HD disks that are modded to work
on the kawai! will be getting a few more of these for back up as
they are cheap.maybe even get a non working model to take apart and
modify! will also be looking out for the Ex/EXE
anyone know where I can get some patterns?
I have run midi files from the net on it,by using the "seqmid"
software to convert

i also run mine (q-80ex) with a universal psu at 9v, works fine. when
i tried a different psu (also set at 9v)i got the disk problem too
(wont load or save). i dont really know what the diff. is between both
psu. hope im not hurting anything by running at 9v

There are three main factors in wall-wort power supplies: voltage, VA
or max amperage, AC or DC output, and polarity. It's possible that the
supply that made the floppy drive fail couldn't provide enough amperage.

I suggest you look for a power supply whose ratings match the original
kawai supply. Hostfelt Electronics (http://www.hosfelt.com/) probably
has something suitable and inexpensive.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
