cross-platform patches?

cross-platform patches?

2005-05-28 by slav3ofon3

Just wondering...

Does a K3 patch work in a k4? Or a K1 in a K3? Or a k5 in a k4?

The K3 and k5 are very unique beasts. The k1 and k4 are somewhat
similar in architecture, though an sort of port would likely be
one-way from the k1 to the k4 and entirely manual. None of the Kawai
synths are sysex patch compatible with other k-series lines. (though
all the k1s are compatible with each other, mostly).

Hope this helps,
Ben

Nope, they are structured totally differently from one
another. Some programming wonk could try writing a
utility that could convert k1 patches to k4, since you
could say that the k1 structure is a subset of the
k4...but it would be quite an exercise; the sound sets
aren't the same.
