K1 and K1mkII

2005-07-20 by David Ratcliffe

Hi Everyone

Can anyone tell me the difference between a Kawai K1 and the updated
version K1 mkII. I have a K1. Is it worth getting a K1 mkII aswell?
All views and opinions welcome.

Also, how is Kawai pronounced?

Cheers
Dave

Hi, Dave.

K1II is a version of K1 with a built-in reverb effect and a drum kit.

I think K1II's reverb sounds warm, but you can substitute it with a good
external reverb unit.
The drum section has good and basic sounds (Bass Drum, Snare, etc.).
The sounds are synthesized ones - sound like K1's Single Patches. No
new samples added.

You may consider replacing your K1 if you find a K1II in a very good
condition at a low price. Or it might be better to look out for a good
FX unit.

And KAWAI reads "Ka-wa-ee."

I have some information about K1's version differences on my site.

Best,
Sealed
