Hi, I dont want to be impatient but the objects of desire are nearing there end at eBay and I still cant decide which way to go - if it is way better to have the K1m with its joystick capabilities or is that not so important and the K1r will be just as good. Sorry for repeating my stupid question.... Christoph

Nobody can tell you what it is you need, but I can talk a little about the K1 joystick. It allows you to mix, in real time, the four tone sources. Unfortunately, it doesn't send MIDI CC messages, so aside, perhaps, from some live performance stuff, it just isn't really all that useful, IMO. I agree - I find the joystick to be of very limited use. I have a full
size K1, and a K1r. I don't use the joystick on the K1 very much. I'd
pick the K1r for its single rack unit form factor over the K1M.
Cheers,

Hi Ben, thanks for the reply - that was exactly what I was wondering - if the joystick has additional functionality beside the mixing and if you would miss him very much if you would not got one... Best regards -Christoph

I have a K1 which i have had from new so that about 17 years, use all the time, Just had serviced as spilt coke into it. Use it at home with computer studio and also gig with it and it has survived the coarse. But i am carefull. It has served me well, been reliable , plenty of sounds available for it to buy and free. The joystick does not really have any function and i feel a bit of a gimmick, no midi nothing really, would have been better as a true vector synth like say the yamaha sy35!! and korg wavestation, but at the original costs of the unit you cant complain. Still there is no filter either. If it failed completely now. I would probably replace with k1/k4 rack and get better keys. Alternatively replace with software Chameleon and resynthesize the sounds using that particular additive synth. I am pretty much going over to software now. You will need external effects, filters etc. I midied mine up to a midiverb and get some good results. At the end of the day the decsion as they say is yours. --- In kawaisynths@yahoogroups.com, "chromal" <chromal.dragon@p...> wrote: > > Nobody can tell you what it is you need, but I can talk a little about > the K1 joystick. > > It allows you to mix, in real time, the four tone sources. > Unfortunately, it doesn't send MIDI CC messages, so aside, perhaps, > from some live performance stuff, it just isn't really all that > useful, IMO. > > Ben > > > > --- In kawaisynths@yahoogroups.com, "cvkaiser" <Christoph@j...> wrote: > > > > Hi, I don´t want to be impatient but the objects of desire are > nearing there end at eBay and I > > still can´t decide which way to go - if it is way better to have the > K1m with its joystick > > capabilities or is that not so important and the K1r will be just as
