Controlling XD5 With Knobs

Controlling XD5 With Knobs

2006-03-19 by bvs9000

Hello,

I'm trying to setup XD5 sounds to be triggered by DTX drum pads while being edited by BCR2000 knobs during live performance but I cannot find the Control Change Numbers (CC#s) for the parameters. I've got XD5 working with the pads but I haven't been able to program the knobs because the CC#s listed in the manual do not apply to the parameters I wish to edit and that's why I'm asking for your help. I have created an Excel chart to be filled with the CC#s I seek. If you would please complete the chart or provide a list of the CC#s for the parameters and I will fill the chart so I can program my MIDI controller knobs, I will greatly appreciate your assistance. Also, can I manually assign CC#s to each of the parameters for each of the drum sounds in XD5?

Thank you,

BVS

If the chart doesn't appear below, here is the list of the sounds and parameters I want to control:

Parameter Name/Control Change HiHat Pedal Closed HiHat Open HiHat Ride Crash Tom 3 Tom 2 Tom 1 Clap Rimshot Snare Kick CC# for Auto Bend Time CC# for Auto Bend Depth CC# for Auto Bend Velocity Depth CC# for Auto Bend Switch CC# for Pitch CC# for Fine Tune Pitch CC# for Wave Select CC# for DCA Attack CC# for DCA Sustain CC# for DCA Decay CC# for DCA Release CC# for DCF Cutoff CC# for DCF Resonance CC# for DCF Attack CC# for DCF Sustain CC# for DCF Decay CC# for DCF Release

HI... new links & other stuff

Hi, I just joined and I thought to be useful...

I noticed some interesting links and I posted 'em...

I also posted some SX-240 related files: user's manual and a mp3 file
with original sounds (if you need to initialize to original sounds);
follow the instructions in the manual!

Hello all,

I'm new here, but I have had some experience with Kawai synths over
the last 15 years (or so). I'm really sorry but the XD5 does (almost)
not respond to CC's. You have to use sysex to control most of XD5's
parameters. As far as I know the BCR manages sysex quite well so it
won't be so difficult once you have the BCR programmed using learn
function.

Regards,

Ángel

k1 sysex and stuff.. help!

2006-03-23 by somethingkillingyou

Hi,
I recently joined this group... but I'm a Kawai user only since
yesterday, when my K1m purchased from ebay arrived...
I'm starting to enjoing it! of course before buyin it I listened
to the mp3 samples that are in the net...

I LOVE the choirs (very mellotronish... am I mad?), breathy pads,
strings (mellotronish, again!) and digital fx and metallic sounds!

before programming my own sound, I noticed some very interesting
sounds from the old cards (thanks www.synthmania.com!) that are easy
to find in sysex format... even @ kawai site!

I'd like to make some "custum" banks with my favourite sounds, but I
can't put to work that ChangeIt thing found out linked on
www.synthzone.com/kawai and whose screenshots are visible in the
file "k1rcards.pdf" from the files section I found here...

I can't even install that program! pc says error!
My pc runs windows XP, I read that program is for win 3.1...
Is there a way to put it to work for me?

Any suggestion?

same things for the other editor "k1editv2.zip" in file section...
it opens a DOS screenshot and immediatly it closes itself...
doesn't work!

I tried to use other tools ->SOUNDLIB -> DUMP TOOL -> WSysEx
but I found out several problems:

1)I can only Import/Export ENTIRE banks
2)I can't edit single sounds on a custom bank with my pc and THEN
transmit the entire banks on K1(m)
3)If I send a single PRESET from one of this editors to K1, I can't
place the preset in the location that I want, it only replaces IA-1
Ahh (I reloaded factory presets...)...

what can I do to make my favourite "best of" banks?
I don't even got cards!

HELP!!!
