Introduction & Help

2006-07-14 by Michelle Stevens

Hello everyone,
My name is Michelle Stevens. I'm from Australia. previously longer than I care to remember I was a full time musician, mostly playing a mixture of Jazz, and middle of the road music.
Recently I was given the K1M and Q80 Sequenser with the R50 Drum machine. I wish to plug it all and get it working through the P260 Keyboard.
I understand most of this equipment may seem like prehistoric to many of you good folks.
Where can I get the owners manuals, or ad least ideas how to navegate round these moduals so I can start playing. I think they equipment is about 15 year old.
Or failing that can someone direct me to a site with tutorials, helping to become a midiest.
Thank you for your time,
Regards
Michelle

Hi Michelle and welcome.

As regards manuals, the K1M manual is probable available on the Kawai
website. It does require some trawling and I'll try to have a look
but the K1 was on there so...

The other two devices I am unaware of but others will direct you to
the best sources. As regards the age of the equipment, I too have
just acquired the K1 from a friend and have just spent about 2 months
sorting out MIDI with the computer so if I can be of any help feel
free to ask!

Hello everyone,

Michelle here,

I want to thank you all for your wonderful support. I found the manuals to
the equipment. The original manuals must have been lost during different
moves.

I will explain why I want to use the old equipment.

Previously I play lots of music mainly piano and organ. Eventually reaching
the State Finals of the Yamaha Electone Festival in my State of Victoria. I
always wanted to be involved in having a greater control over my music and
this is why I believed playing midi and creating my own music was the way to
go.

About 10 to 15 years ago I became very sick and lost all of my hearing. Now
I use a Cochlear Implant I am slowly getting back into playing music again.

I now volunteer some of my time to work and help the Music Therapy Programme
in Melbourne conducted by The Deafblind Association in Melbourne. Working
with the Music therapist we hope to create a programme to stimulate people's
senses that may have profound disabilities mainly vision, hearing
impairments.

We have been working on the basses of creating music that people can feel,
or by stimulaing any residual hearing, or vision they may have. I truely
believe we will be able to make good use of the moduels so htat people
otherwise would have no knowledge of music will be able to learn how to feel
and enjoy music.

In this next couple of weeks I will work with the Music Therapist to setup
the equipment so we can start working out the best patches, to stimulate
their senses.

Again many thanks for your kind help,

Regards
Michelle
