Hey, i was just wondering. What type of sounds do you use you kawai synth for? I have a kawai K3m and mainly use it for wierd pads.

I have a kawai K3m and mainly use it for wierd pads. I'm still discovering new ways to use my K-series synths, but let's see.. I like using the K1rII for gritty digital pads, but it shines for a few other things. It makes a nice unfiltered analog sawtooth lead sound and a passable nice 88 800 000 registration Hammond organ. The K3 has some nice epiano sounds, a killer mono sine lead, and some other pretty cool keyboard sounds. I just read a Sound on Sound magazine article that suggests it's a really good Hammond tonewheel organ sound generator, too. I like it for pads, but... It's my K4r that I consider the killer pad machine. Sweepy skwonky resonant pads. Oh, and a half-decent quirky edrum set, too. The K4r does some fun leads, if you're looking for something different than the analog monosynth sound. I'm still figuring out what my K5m is good for. Abstract light electronic sequenced arpeggiation, maybe? Complex sine pads? I haven't been able to see what other people are doing with theirs because I haven't found any user patches that Kawai themselves didn't put out... Ben

Hi, I like making any sounds with all kawai synths. Not only they have interesting synthetic functions but also they sound fat. But I especially like making pads with kawai's ring modulators (K1, K4, XD-5 and Gmega). Additive waves and K3's real VCF is also great for pads and bleeps. I like K5 demo on Chromal's page. I have a K5m, but I too, am wondering how to synthesize with it. Maybe most users are still on the way to find how it should be used.... And there's a small module called XS-1. It has no surprising features, but it can produce some funny digital pads with distortion. I uploaded XS-1 sounds on my site. As far as Kawai synths go I have curently a K1r, K3m and a K5000s. I have also owned in the past a K1, a K3 (sold these two and replaced them with the rackmounts to save space) and a G-MEGA. As I layer synths alot I don't really use any one of these for any specific purpose though I do tend to lean towards the k5ks for leads due to it's relentlessly edgy tone. I tend to couple the k5ks with a Redsound darkstar alot as I feel they compliment one another well. I use the k3 with a Korg ex-8000 alot for tones and my k1 gets grouped along with my yamaha tx81z and a waldorf xtk. The most used vote goes out to the k1 and k5ks. --- In kawaisynths@yahoogroups.com, "senatoradam" <senatoradam@y...> wrote: > Hey, i was just wondering. Beleieve it or not, I use my K4 for piano, Strings and Organ, I have found some really good patches and I disagree with the critics who says the K4 doesn't do authentic sounds very well. --- In kawaisynths@yahoogroups.com, sealed <sealed@m...> wrote: > Hi, > > I like making any sounds with all kawai synths.
