Hi Al, As of the software release today, the battery is simply not needed anymore. So there will be no excuses for anyone with a HAWK-800 killing their Poly 800 by leaving it in storage for years with batteries that then leak all over the printed circuit boards. The installation manual will be updated to include recommending that any PCB mounted battery should be completely removed. And never leave the "C cell" batteries in your Poly 800 if you intend to store it for any extended period of time. Start saving Al!
