Re: [korgpolyex] DCO Problems?

2003-01-20 by Dan Brewton

Hey there............Well, I had the same exact problem with mine......dug inside
(since I do Electronics for a living ) Found VR3 is an internal adjustment that sets
the Noise Level { into the Chip NJM2069 VCA SigIn.....pin 7 }
Rotating this "pot" (variable resistor )
just a little....dont know which direction.....will make it worse or very much better
If this function is something you can do without, then rotating it to the extreame will
effectively disable it.....FYI.....this is a great entry point for those of us who enjoy
modifications....to inject yet-another signal from some other source, if you know
Electronics....a kind of auxillary / alternative input that could substitute for Noise...
Anyway........ be bold, if your careful, you can go inside these things no problem....I've repaired several......

I just picked up a Korg Poly-800 and noticed that even with all noise
generator controls set to zero, I still receive a subtle white noise
playback with each note. Is this a common characteristic of the Poly-
800 or might there be an issue with, say, dirty or misaligned DCOs?

Any ideas or solutions regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
