The mod to remove C87, 88 and D15, 23 results in the memory being powered only by the CR2032, even when the synth is powered on, which can reduce the CR2032 battery life. It also reduces C-cell life (if you use them) by leaving a drain through R1 and D1. By removing R1, D1 and soldering the wires over there and leaving the other components in place, the memory is powered by the internal 5V supply when the synth is turned on and by the lithium cell when it is turned off.
Is this one of the original Mk1 with no solder pads where the battery would eventually go, or the in-between one with solder pads but no battery?
In any case, it doesn\u2019t seem like either mod should have any affect on the audio output.
