Indeed it is, don't do it even when they will pay you 1000 USD for  
it :-) Battery can explode, and if not, you would destroy it by heat.  
So you can end with beautifully soldered pins on dead battery. I speak  
from my own research :-)

Check PSU, voltages, electrolytic caps in PSU circuit, lose or dirty  
connectors, oxidized contacts in IC sockets (if any), PCB cracks or  
bad solder points or leaked battery...

I would also try to set init patch and copy it to all memories one by  
one...
