As long as the engineering of the oscillators is such that the human ear cannot discern any deficiencies in the desired sound then it should not matter if the sound was produced by digital or analog means.
Now, there are a lot of people (I've met some) that think that the above statement is incorrect. But those that think so don't understand basic physics and engineering principles (even though they almost always claim they do).
My long term plan is to integrate new oscillators into Poly. I am sure we will end up having vigorous debates about the oscillators but the arguments will be opposite: "but they're not really genuine DCO's are they!". LOL

Subject: [korgpolyex] digital osc vs DCO
ok, so i have a little MFB Synth Lite II - which is a very natty little
piece of kit, and sounds great (to me): moog-ish (prodigy/rogue/..)
as well as roland-ish, and has analog filter + envelopes, but
'digital' oscillators-generated by a micro cpu.
so, there's been some debate on forums as to whether this constitutes
a 'DCO', or if a distinction must be drawn...
it has 2 oscillators (and a sub) and these can x-modulate,sync+ringmod.
(start thinkng jx3p for the Poly version?) - but then complainers were
going: 'oh but it's horrible *digital* sync/crossmod/ringmod'
>the thing almost fits in your shirt pocket and sounds good<
it brings out the filter really well -would probably work ok with the korg
filter. #yiv2345630544 #yiv2345630544 -- #yiv2345630544ygrp-mkp {border:1px solid #d8d8d8;font-family:Arial;margin:10px 0;padding:0 10px;}#yiv2345630544 #yiv2345630544ygrp-mkp hr {border:1px solid
