Hey there........... I've been repairing these units for some time now.......I assume you are reffering to the smaller circular flat Lithium, soldered down to the Mother Board....????? If so and it measures at least 3 v, then your half-way there.....!!!! These units have been known to 'Flake-Out' regardless, especially if they are being driving off MIDI......powering off the unit in the middle of a Midi transaction does wonders to uncover many of their software bugs.... they never perfected that art, not even the Mark-II....... In fact the EX-800 was much improved, but I've caught it in the act a few times.........just chalk it up to the Manuf. using the Public to perfect their unfinished work......!!!!! ( sounds like Microsoft, anyone !? :) So you have to re-LOAD all your patches...... using no.11 as a temp workspace is how i regard it.... never much luck using tape, myself, yet the GROUPS log shows a few successes............. Cheers Dan
