new member - trim pots?

2002-02-17 by lenny g

hello,

I'm a new member to this group, but I have owned my Poly-800 since 1994. I
really like this synth and it has never given me any problems. I recently
bought a Poly-800II (decided to upgrade to the Digital Delay) so I've been
copying patches that I use in my band from one synth to the other. I found
that the same parameter settings don't sound the same on both synths. Is
there a way to fix this, perhaps by adjusting the internal trim pots? I've
also heard about the filter mod, but that only converts 2 trim pots to
knobs (cutoff and resonance). Does anyone know what the other trim pots
control? There are 10 or 15 trim pots in my Poly-800II, so I'm wondering
if anyone ever found out what they all do and if they are worth being
replaced with knobs.

thank you,

lenny g

I know that on the original Poly800, one pot controls the noise
level, another the pitch, and i found another than sort of did a
weird gain/filter/pitch thing, but I didn't see much need in
tampering with those...

btw, I would love to find a way to perhapse do an audio imput to
the filter section or maybe some other funky mods.. anyone do
other things to the 800?

thanks
