Progress with the 1RU rack

Progress with the 1RU rack

2010-03-17 by korgpolyex800

I got a nasty dose of food poisoning so I took a sick day today.

And worked on the 1RU rack kit PCB designs!

I've now designed two PCB's. One will carry the LCD display and the other will carry all 18 push buttons.

I'll be ordering a couple of each for initial testing.

By the way, who is interested in converting their EX800 or Poly-800 into a 1RU type synth module? Add your choice into the new poll.

Mike

Uggggg! I had the food poisoning thing about a month ago. Yuck!!! Hope you didn't get any of the tritium leaking up river from Vermont's Yankee Nuke Plant. We could use you for some cold fusion experiments.... Sorry bad joke. ;-) Hope you're feeling better.

If you put in a LCD display like you mentioned and I could name all the patches I write I would jump on it as soon as I saved enough cash.

Atom, the poll has been around since 2009.

Hey, how did our friend rewiring the Poly II do???? Is he still here or did I scare him half to death?

Progress with the 1RU rack

Hi Fran,

I think I would drink heavy water rather than take the beating I just received from this bunch of bacteria.

I wasn't really proposing rewriting the code to the extent that the LCD kit would support named patches. But it's certainly something to think about. Given enough time, it would be possible.

It's also important to keep in mind that the LCD board was designed to fit into a 1RU box and is not designed to go into an existing Poly.

The idea being that many of us that have studio set ups don't want Poly standing on end in a corner along with all of our other racked synth's. We would rather like to have a little 1RU spot where Poly can feel at home.

I think you're referring to Wayne, and yes, he's still here and making progress I believe.

Mike.
