I found this site: http://home.wtal.de/elasticimages/musik_basteln_01.htm It seems that this is the mk1 sysex modification. Am I correct? This page has written in german. :( Sorry, my german knowledge is: "zwei bier bitte" Topy

Hi!!! i just saw an Ex-800 at an auction, and i'd just want to know if it has portamento, for i need the glide to make solos. I own a N364, but it lacks filters and porta. May somebody help me??
Thanx in advance.

This guy did it, and he used a generic memory chip, not the ex`s, he even has both systems (poly and ex) on one chip! http://home.wtal.de/elasticimages/musik_basteln_01.htm

i can't get to the site, but judging from what jbsepia said, it's not quite the same as the korg-sanctioned mod - there's no switching between poly/ex modes needed with mine. as long as it works, though, i don't see a problem. last november i said i'd try to make some progress on the whole eprom- dump thing, and so far nothing's been forthcoming. the problem is, i don't have an eprom reader, and although i've found instructions for a diy project, i don't really have time to build one from scratch. sorry guys. maybe one of my friends has a reader i can borrow; i'll find out. schematics and pcb-scans won't be much good without the eprom dump, so i'll try to get that first. progress may be slow, though. -gareth --- In korgpolyex@yahoogroups.com, Topy <topybear@c...> wrote: > I found this site: > http://home.wtal.de/elasticimages/musik_basteln_01.htm > > It seems that this is the mk1 sysex modification. I have both Poly800 and EX800 Eprom "Dumps", HEX_Dumps that is.....and a Diss_assembly of the Poly......I'll put them into the FILES area, if they will let me... I have yet to try the EX800 Eprom in the Poly800 system......I can edit and re-write these things ,as well..... (sometimes there is no room, and one must negotiate File_Space first....:( --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!

Well, that sounds cool - I'm sure the hex dumps would be a useful resource for anyone needing to replace the standard EPROMs in their Poly or EX. It doesn't help me out too much, though, because the EPROM in the Poly-800 MDK isn't the same as any of the others (mk1, mk2, or EX-800) - which is the whole problem, really. I didn't really explain this properly, so to recap: if I can get my hands on an EPROM-reader, I'll be able to put up schematics, PCB- scans, a dumpfile containing code for a new EPROM, and instructions, all of which will enable people to to convert non-sysex-compatible Poly-800 mk1s into sysex-compatible Poly-800 MDKs. I know quite a few people are keen to do this. -gareth

Oh !!.......So you have the MDK eprom within your grasp.....Mmmmm.....short of sending me the thing to copy, etc, I'd say there are MANY Eprom Readers available..... Fry'sElectronics had one that I remember.....I purchaced mine some years ago via the pages of an Electronics magazine.....JAMECO in SF,Ca. has them listed..... certainly not Radio Shack (!) but , you never know, they can order just about anything.. Oh, I should have asked.....what part of the WWWorld are you located !!????? Dan --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!

2003-07-29 by Dan Brewton
Greetings Melbourne, Australia !!! Thats great....!.......Well yeah, I'd say Eprom Readers START at $50 U.S., most are more$$..since most dont just READ, to be useful they must WRITE, as well, i.e. BURN the Data into the PROM..a much more involved bit of electronics, thats for sure....Plus the software, but that usually is included along with the Unit. .....I can upload a dump so long as there is room on the Sites Files section .....last time I tried that, there was none....and/or send you a copy....not a large file, afterall....32KB i think is the ROM size, even if its double that , still smaller than most Image attachments..... So you do Intel 8085 Machine code programming...? Dan --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software

I bought an EX-800 module in 2001 (it belonged to a famous ProgRock artist who used it on his solo projects) and stuck it in storage while I went on tour and forgot I had it. I dug it out about a month ago and can't figure out how to get it to work. Where can I find a manual?

on the very very very same group files directory?

I was given an EX-800 module (cosmetically excellent condition) by an Internationally Famous Rock Star. You've probably heard this very unit used live if you've seen his band in concert. I don't have the faintest idea how to use it, and there is no manual or even an AC adapter. I'd like to incorporate it in my studio setup, and maybe even take it to shows. Where can I find the info to get this unit functional?

the ex800 is a little easy to use synth, manuals can be found in the files part of the group page... Else it's just as i said an easy to use synth... two oscillators, a MG (which mean LFO), VCF (kind of analog filter if im right), a chorus and a noise... ho and both oscilators has their own envelopes.. get ready to cheesy leads or warm pads!
