Transistor Q1

I read that a tech used a NTE378 to replace Q1 transistor... http://sounddoctorin.com/synthtec/korg/poly800.htm said he "reversed" the leads? Guess the leads from the NTE378 dont match up to the leads from the original Q1 transistor... simple fix though.
