email about Korg poly 800 Battery Installation Well it just DEPENDS !!! :) Bet you've heard that one before ! Two ways to go......if your a 'Do-itself'er" that is, which I am ,in the extreame....(currently Revearse Engineering the Firmware in the Poly 800, etc....plus some 'Extreame' Mods to the circuitry, etc,....blah ) One is to solder to a couple of 'Pads' available on the Main PCB intended to hold a battery clip, a place located inbetween IC18 and IC19..... such as these plastic battery holders... Radio shack used to sell these, but perhaps no longer...depends in what part of the USA you are in......this is one of those low-profile types intended to hold the really thin type Battery CR2025 a 3&1/2 volt Mercury Cell. From Energizer ...another is Matsushita Lithium BR2320.another is Maxell CR2025.another is Toshiba Lithium CR2032 could be many other types available that produce 3 to 3.5v, more i am sure...this one is about the size of 1/2Dollar, maybe smaller, but larger than a quarter......anyway.... Another path you can take is to buy the more readily available AA cells, two of them in series is only 3 volts, which works but 3 of them is 4&1/2 volts which is even better, since the Chip they power is normally held at 5 volts when powered by the wall circuit.....So this would call for one of those battery holders that hold 2--3 (no more !! ) AA cells, then wire that with the +Positive to the top rail of the PCB....by that I mean refer to attached photo.....its the high-order pin of most chips that the voltage goes into...in this case an 6116 RAM chip in socket # IC21 pin 24 its rightmost corner pin across from index pin 1 if you know chips, then forgive my crude attempt to picture it...rather rely on the photo.... --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
