EX800 stopped powering on

EX800 stopped powering on

2016-01-24 by phunx747@...

I have had my EX800 since last summer and it has worked without issue. I recently moved my studio around and rewired the whole setup. When done, my EX800 would no longer power on. I thought the power input maybe was broken but upon opening it up and a visual inspection everything looks good. I've tried multiple power supplies and different outlets to no avail. I'm not sure what my next step is and I'm not really that knowledgeable about electronics to do much more. I was also wondering if there is anyone who does the moog slayer or Hawk mod that I could send the EX to and maybe get it fixed by them too for a price? I like the synth and I am willing to pay for that service. Any help is appreciated!

So if you've tried other ac adapters with the same voltage / polarity requirements and still did not power up, then there are a couple of components on the power cct that could, perhaps have blown. I see a diode D2 (SR1K-2) and a pwr transistor or FET (Q1 listed as B744 or B731), I can't find it on the parts list. But you would have to go in with a voltmeter to see whats going on on the power rails at those points.

good luck

How did you go? BTW, there was one Poly owner I know that moved his studio around and his Poly wouldn't work until he realized that some power equipment was close by the Poly. Once he moved the RFI sources away from Poly, it came to life again.

Yeah not much has changed, I still need to buy/borrow a multimeter so I can do some better troubleshooting. I did try it on a different outlet in a different part of the house but it doesn't seem to matter. I do miss it already though!
