Hawk 800 Joystick Issue

Hi guys,
I installed the Hawk 800 quite a while ago (almost a year I think) and it works okay. One thing is that the joy stick stopped working when I got it up and running. The pitch mod doesn't work at all, and the DCO gets stuck on. The connections all look good, and the mechanics of it are working fine. I'm not sure what could be wrong with it, aside from that it got damaged when I installed the kit (either the joystick itself, or the ribbon cables.). Anybody have any insight, or advice?
I know there's a new joy stick, and I might be ordering that, but I don't want to waste the money if it turns out that something else was the issue.
