The Logic Off Topic list

Can anyone here actually define the meaning of phoney .More precisely in the
context of the music business ..if someone buys a piece of music or aural
art  or whatever and it sounds the way that person imagines it would sound
then how can that item of information be phoney?? Where does the phonieness
enter the equation ,can anyone out there see what I mean. I mean I've met
,played with , bought ,  some really lightweight pieces of work but because
in my opinion they were lightweight does that make them phoney .I have for
instance downloaded things that I thought were something else but does that
per se make them phoney . Now crap I dont have a problem with , crap means
it smells ,it's relatively shapeless and it should be removed from polite
company , now isn't that a better description of what we are uncomfortable
with than phoney . there's something spurious about "phoney ".
Next week children we will explore the meaning of quality so I would like
everybody to read Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance by tomorrow
morning .
