In the past [long long ago] I used watkins copycat and Klemt Echolette tape delays. These two are cool because you can manipulate the playback by hand, though they take some time to get to know what you can do with them, without breaking the tape [they were not meant to be used that way] And, I guess, hand-tape-manipulation is not real convenient for guitarists.
