>> The US helped Russia during WWII with supplies and tanks. The Koreans say America sold them out and burn our flag, throw fire bombs at our embassy, and stage noisy protests....regularly... and this is South Korea, our friend!!!! One Korean friend told me that at a university they place an American flag on the ground to trample over and wipe their feet on a daily basis. Not North Korea our enemy! You might recall that in 1950 the north launched a surprise attack and nearly drove the southern forces into the sea - all that remained was a single city at the southern tip called Pusan. The US and about 10 other nations sent troops and reinforced it, then eventually took almost all of Korea back - north and south. Then the Chinese entered the war and the US/UN retreated with heavy casualties. MacArthur was fired for wanting to nuke China. The US decided it didn't want to have WWIII against China and Russia, and so an uneasy truce dividing the country in half has existed to this day. For that reason, the south Koreans hate us Americans who saved their asses. The other reason they hate us, is because in 1980, their own military did a mini-Tianamin Square massacre of about 1,000 students. The US military had no part in it, but since the US was supposed to know about every thing that happens with the Korean military, then we are somehow to blame, too. So this current anti-American attitude when gratitude would be called for, is quite familiar. We help Afganistan (not just during their war with Russia, but even now we're the largest donor of aid.) We (and others) do the dirty work in Iraq. Should we have had a nuclear war with Russia over Eastern Europe in the 1950? Doesn't sound very appealing to me.
