Analog heaven and digital hell are indeed dedicated mailinglists for such topics. My personal opinion: you haven't been messing with the "wrong" synths. Each synth has its own function imo. Analog is still best at analog sounds, but digital can do sounds analog can't do, so both are great imo! I love my Virus KB but I love my Sunsyn too.
