Having lived with several analogs over the past 15-20 years my view is that modelled analog is different - but still as valid as the real thing. Convenience plays a role here as well. OTOH, digital synths that don't try to emulate the typical analog signal path are wonderful. Ultimately, to me they're all just different colours on the palette.
