The RME HDSP Digiface has wordclock i/o built in, and also a MIDI interface with 2x16 channels. If you need more, the AMT8 (by Emagic) can be connected with your Unitor 8 MkI (thru the RS232 port) for a total of 16 I/Os >Is the machine >powerful enough to handle lots of these?? (should be, regarding the >processor power, but I don't know whether it can be compared to a desktop >mac). I heard bad reports about the 828's stability & performance. I don't think it sounds as good as the 2408 Also, mic preamps are the last thing that will go out of date in your studio, long after FireWire, MIDI, computers, the telephone, etc, so I suggest you invest in good separate mic preamps instead
