I've found a small split air conditioning system to be very effective. It
may be out of your budget but it certainly gives the studio a more pro feel
and the noise is barely audible.

If it's in a loft then you should be able to position the room vent as far
away from your listening position as possible and this helps keep the noise
down even more as well.

Unless you live in a really quiet neighbourhood with no neighbours around to
be disturbed by your noise, going the AC route is always going to result in
a more quiet control room than opening a window.
