In short they are indeed very different.
D-load a demo when you have a sec..

Like I said, in an attempt to be brief....Absynth has some
relatives in the Korg...wavestation/ Triton school where the
ES 2 is deeper in synthesis in ways of something like a Nordlead,
Virus or similar..to give you a very rough idea....
You have to hear it yourself...and mind you sometimes people
who are better at programming / Sound Design than myself
will squeese blood from a stone....so the usual YMMV is ever present..
