I would definitely get a second opinion on the health of all those components -- I've heard a few horror stories about repair shops before. See if someone you trust can recommend a competent technician -- if he/she confirms the diagnosis at least it will put your mind at rest. If it turns out it is just your power supply or your BIOS needs to be reset or something stupid like that it will save you a bundle. Regards, Murray
