Commodore, Atari, Mac, PC ...

2002-07-04 by steve_winston_2000

I have been using Lengeling's software since 1986 on commodore then
switched to Atari in '88, switched to Mac in '94 and I have moved to
PC about 2 Years ago. The reason has never been financial (I have
sold over 15 millions records using Lengeling's software over the
years) but technical. I think Emagic becoming a Mac only app is a
step backward. I don't believe that Apple's acquisition will be good
for Logic. In my experience when a small dedicated company merge
with big one the small company loses its identity and drive to be
the best. It is due in part that the founders of the small company
get very rich overnight and their priorities change. Of course they
always make statement that things will remain the same or better but
it never happen. Apple's concern for the actual 130 000 Logic Mac
user (how many pro Platinum user there?) will be little. Apple is
looking for the big picture, an application every musician can make
music with, that's great but not for the electronic musician who is
always looking for edge. I would buy a Mac tomorrow if I could run
windows XP on it, they look cool and they are well build. Since it
is impossible, I will stay with 5.2 on XP for a while learn XS
slowly to switch program later when VST3 and other innovation show
up. That will be the end of a 16 years relationship.
