OSX is UNIX with a very slick Mac public face. Its really a new OS. And UNIX 
is the preferred OS of industry, government, and internet servers. I don't 
know who you spoke to, but I have read good things about OSX. I have several 
macs, and I have OSX on one of them - and its a beautiful and elegant OS - 
however, its not 100% ready for prime time. Its still new and has some 
incomplete issues. But give it a little time, and those will be corrected. 
Its built on a rock solid base.
