That's not true, I used my 8500 with OS 9.1, Logic 2.6 --> 5.2,
MOTU MIDI Express XT (serial only, through the modem port) for
years, never once used OMS. I don't ever remember any issues
either - I just chose the modem port in Logic, turned on
multi-cable mode (or something), and I was in business...
