I have this weird missing icon problem on Mac OS 9.22 that has manifested within the last few days. These seem to be icons of files, such as VST plugins in Logic 6.3.1, plug-in settings files, .sit files, and many others. This issue does not seem to affect program icons. I have 2 80 gig internal Seagate drives, and two external firewire and the missing icons seem to be on various files on all of them. I've tried rebuilding the desktop with the standard apple method, and also using Techtool Lite, Norton Utilities, and even Conflict catcher. No Joy. Even tried temporarily installing a clean system. No good. This one really has me baffled, and i have been using Macs for a long time. Neither Norton Utilties, Disk Warrior, or Conflict Catcher reported anything unusual with either the drives, or the files. The latest virus definitions of Norton AntiVirus shows no viruses. Any of you Mac users out there have any ideas what could be causing this? Everything seems to be working fine.Programs launch, Logic works, plug-ns behave normally, etc. I'm somewhat concerned that this stubborn problem might be symptomatic of some other issue developing, although what that could be(hardware related?) eludes me. Thanks in advance for any input on anything else i can try to restore the icons. Best regards- Gary Chambers
