This indeed does only work if you actually draw 8 cables from the Cable Switcher (when testing, cable the Switch e.g. 8 times to the same new Monitor object). It's a mystery to me though why he uses delay line objects to generate the messages. As far as I can see, you could just as well set the metronome to produce bars and beats and subdivisions and use those for 'event generation'.
