The Logic Off Topic list

hi,i'm running a beige g3 with an external la cie hard drive and an 
adaptec 2940U2B ultra wide pci scsi card. its been running 
perfectly for years but recently if i boot up, with the la cie drive,
the 
finder quits.does anybody have any suggestions about what i 
need to change? the adaptec firmware isn't supported anymore.
do i need to reinstall my OS? (9.2.2)
