For several reasons: The Apple Mini is amazing. It costs barely more than an iPod, of which 4.5 million were sold over the holidays. If the new multiple platform processor rumor is true, I suspect that Apple's end goal is to have a machine that runs both Windows and OS X. If they can keep the price point low, like they've accomplished with the Mini, it will be a no-brainer. The OS X suite is so darn impressive. It amazes me what those guys are accomplishing. Plus, Microsoft would be more than pleased. It will be interesting to see how Apple goes after the entertainment center market. I suspect they're only going to release a product when they've really nailed it. As a humorous and factual aside... I live one town over from Redmond, WA, and my local chiropractor saw Bill Gates 2 weeks ago walk out of a local Salvation Army type store (next door to my friends business) talking on his cell phone, going on about something he just saw in the junk store that he thinks might be valuable. No offense to Bill whatsoever. I just think that is pretty hilarious. Can you imagine seeing Bill do that. But he really did. Fun stuff. Hey, I can appreciate a vintage piece collector. D
