I can confirm it¹s possible because it works on my system.  Did you install
Jam Pack and then add Logic later.  If so, you might need to reinstall Jam
Pack so it puts the aliases to the right places in Logic¹s folders.

Or you could try locating the Logic AU instruments folder and putting an
alias in there to the Garageband folder that contains the instruments.
