Hi Per,

I have no idea what you're talking about but Electrix has a looping
machine. Don't ask me whether it does what you need, but perhaps you
could check it out.

Thanks,

I found the new product The Repeeter that seems to be what I'm looking for.
But they seem to sell only in North America and I'm in Scandinavia :( Gotta
think about something...

Thanks. I know where to look from here :) Read the PDF manual and immediately had that "gotta-get-this-beast" fever... What a smart piece of equipment it is!

I've tried the Akai, and found it pretty cool, I know some players who
are very keen on the boomerang. In the past [long long ago] I used
watkins copycat and Klemt Echolette tape delays. These two are cool
because you can manipulate the playback by hand, though they take some
time to get to know what you can do with them, without breaking the tape
[they were not meant to be used that way] And, I guess,
hand-tape-manipulation is not real convenient for guitarists.

Yes. I do this. In fact, you may want to check out the looper's delight page and mailing list. Everyone there does almost nothing else.

Of these three, the Echoplex Digital Pro is by far and away the most powerful and easiest to use. Personaly, I also consider it the 'classic' looper. However, Electrix just came out with Repeater, arguably more than the EDP's equal. It uses Smart Card Flash RAM, so your loops can be upto 256 meg in size and aren't erased when you power down. Furthermore, it allows you 4 mono tracks at once, or two stereo and it can perform time and pitch stretching on the fly.

I would recomend either the Echoplex, or the Repeater. The Repeater responds to midi commands, but does not have it's own foot pedal yet. The echoplex has a dedicated foot controller.

You can overdub on almost any pedal. However, the Repeater allows >separate< tracks at once. The echoplex allows you to specify the number of loops you intend to use, and clone loops you have created, either automatically or on the fly.

A minor heads up - it's almost as heavy a traffic list as the LUG, though with probably less than a tenth as many members - a good or bad thing, you decide. Be prepared for several years worth of in-jokes - many people on the list have been there for four or more years (Including Kim Flint, who's list it is, and who built the Echoplex DP. The developer of the Repeater is a relatively new addition to the fold. There are quite a few other notable musicians too.)

Also, the email addresses go into an unprotected archive, so you would be advised to subscribe with a disposable email account, just for the list. If you want a taste of what is discussed, check out the archives.

PB,
A company called Electrix has a new thingy out called
the Looper that does all the stuff you want, including
I think the footswitch thing. They make some other
pretty cool stuff like the MO-FX and the Filter
Factory too. Very affordable.

Hi Barry,

Thanks a lot. You must mean "the Repeater", their latest looper. I was lucky to arrange with the Swedish import group to borrow a Repeater for testing and writing a magazine review on it. I've been reading a lot about Repeater and it looks extremely cool to me.

Regards
