To the Victor ....

>>To the victor goes the luxury of remaking the world in their image. That >>remaking never involves heaping praise upon the they they have defeated. >>Nor does it involve awarding them medals for their gallantry, writing songs >>about their uplifting presentations of humanity nor for their clear >>thinking and vision. Of course thats true. However, its sort of not true also. During WWII, I think many people all over the world and especially in the US realized that a great evil was in action. And the fact that our cause was just lead every day people to give their full effort. Hitler, although having unlimited amounts of slave labor and the great industrial capabilities of the German people, laughed when Roosevelt claimed that the US would build 10,000 planes a year..... but we did. We rose to the occasion. Our women worked in factories and our men fought two wars simultaneously (Europe and the Pacific). On the other hand when you are doing something which is not completely clear, you will not put that much effort into it - such as the Vietnam war. The younger generation didn't buy in to it. And we know what happened. That war was unwinnable before it started. In the same way now, we didn't have much resolve in Somalia. However, now we do.
