The Logic Off Topic list

Having grown up in The u.k in my early years ,before britpop took on the world, I may be a leetle bit out of touch with the scene there .However I do have an opinion about culture per se .Firstly it rains a lot in England and it's cold a lot of the time , like Seattle , Melbourne,All of New zealand [lot of N.Z. artists around you'd be surprised to know]. Also they speak English in those places ,big market the English speaking world.
As far as American Music being more gritty , well someone forgot to give the osmonds and the like their grits it seems to me . Of course speaking of grits just possibly the blacks played a large part in the reinvigoration of Pop and the easy acceptance by the brit musos in the sixties of black influence had alot to do with the reinvigoration of brit pop directly , at the time of the stones the american industry was offering Paul Revere and the Raiders I seem to remember and believe me they are hard to remember tho I think the monkees did some good things for a manufactured band .
What brit musos did was insist on doing their own recording as opposed to handing the studio duties to Carol King and her mates [otherwise known as the beach boys in one incarnation ].
Completely off topic in this missive is also the fact that amoungst the endless discussion concerning history and the reason why people with nothing to lose keep acting like they have nothing to lose everybody keeps pushing 3rd. millenium values onto early 20th century realpolitik . Believe me the nazis weren't the only ones who didn't like the jews and as well as being sure that there were a lot of ultra right wing greenbacks supporting hitler there was also a lot of ultra right pommie aristocracy[see if you can spot the redundancy there] going all the way with Europes new order . The phony war which happened after Churchill finally got his way and war was declared on Germany was a period that I suspect was used to see just how much overt and covert support was around for both camps and what was the possibilty of a nice little earner , to selected chaps of course ...
Well thats my two bobs worth ..  No 'hatred' intended , just my version of reality .
