music business magazines etc

Damned, I had written a big reply to Kool's mail and Mozilla messed up
and lost the mail. :-(

In short: Kool, thanks for the links. I had them already, buy your
inside scoop was interesting!

I've noticed that decisions in record companies are only made at the
headquarters. All sister-companies are only responsable for exploitation
in their territory.
That means I'll have to get all info in London and New York as I suspected.

Market data etc is well-documented, however, management decisions and
their implications are not well-documented. I intend to focus my
research on that, so I can (hopefully) add something useful.

It looks like my copromoter will be a Belgian (can't find anyone
abroad), so I'm not sure I'll write my thesis in english. I'll try to
make it available as public download though.

I tried to make them more than interesting.

That was why I also referred you to the IFPI.

And usually they don't like it.

Not all. Contact your local 'Belgium record association; (BPI-type) people.
They will know exactly, and I do mean exactly, who you need to get in touch
with. Those local decision-makers will then tell you what it's like on the
ground; and then refer you like an arrow straight to their superiors in
London and New York or wherever who hand those decisions down.

For that you need the personal angle, so you need to do the people who do
the documenting, because they have to speak to the people who make the
decisions before they can document anything. That was my reasoning. So ...
speak to the people who do the documenting. They will send you to their
sources ... and those people will send you to THEIR sources.

Alternatively ... you could respectfully suggest to all of us that it's
about time we all learned Flemish!!
