Greetings all!

Per Joeri's request, I'd first like to say that Sybase and "Black 
ICE" by Network ICE are good personal firewalls for a great price! 

When you have these products, though, make sure you update the 
firewall regularly, if applicable. For instance, Black Ice 
(http://networkice.com/products/soho_solutions.html) just put out a 
new update weeks ago, because hackers had found an exploit that 
allowed them to get through the firewall.

Outside of that, good general starting point for information on 
Microsoft security would be:

ha ha!! Sybase, Freudian slip....that's SunOS stuff, I meant Sygate...

Don't know about the MAC, Colin....what you could do is search for a 
router/firewall box that works as a unit, then never have to install 
any software at all on your system...

much slicker....not too pricey, somewhere around 2-300$$$
