You should know that those messages are NOT sent by intention - these people
actually are infected by themselves.
Any valuable virus scanner should detect it anyways.

The messages are being set to Mac users too.

Correct, so the mail comes from a private person and not the list.

The Virus is replying to the 'From' line in List messages though.
I remember ther was debate in the past whether the 'from' line should
include the posters full email addy. I agree that it should, but maybe
while this virus is active, if it's still posssible, it might be a good
time to try switching it off.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
