Emagic Drops windoze (so what from a windoze user)
2002-07-03 by John Matthews
I've not looked at the list for a few days now- and wow- no more E-magic windoze. Well, as PC Windoze/Logic user, I am not pissed off at all. I bought a PC to use Logic on to make music with over 3 years ago- Upgraded as far as Gold 4.5, which works very well with my old PII and SW1K. Pretty much decided to very thoroughly learn to use what I've got rather than being sucked up into the constant hassle/problems/learning curve/cash expense of constantly upgrading both computer and software. What I've got works very well and does what I want, thank you very much, and will continue to do so after 30th September. Also, sticking with the same set up, I know it much better now and the technicallity of it becomes almost unconscious and the music making easier......... I think that working with limitations in your studio can force you to become more creative to get the sounds, put more effort in to the sounds rather than buying the latest fancy plug-in and hence get more originality into your music making. There are people who still make music with Atari's for heavens sake....... If you change to cubase, it wont suddenly make you a better songwriter/ producer/engineer will it?? So, the solution is simple. If you want to run the latest logic- then simply switch to a Mac. Thats what I was going to do anyway if I even get the cash together to get a laptop/logic system- run it on an i-book, maybe with a MOTU 828 or something. If you just wanna make music- then stick with your Logic/Windoze version that works and will continue to work and make music with it. Just consider that LAW has peaked and there will never be a better version. You dont have to worry about upgrading, and are allways working with the best LAW. Getting all upset won't help you to make music will it??????????????????? OTOH, if anyone in the South East of UK wants to sell me their Platinum ver 4.5 windoze or EXS 24 at a knock down price- so they can swap to cubarse...let me know...................... :-) regards John.
