don't know about resources, but.....
ya oughta call both ascap and bmi, speak to a rep at each, and ask them why 
you shld sign on w/their respective organisations.
take notes. check the vibe of 'your' rep (incl. how long it takes to get 
through to someone knowledgeable), etc.
on the gossip front:
some folks have intimated that ascap monies are more 'fairly' distributed 
amongst 'popularity/playback divisions' of composers. (i know nothing about 
this; i've been w/bmi for a long time, so far).
